Swim Season Update

Hello everyone:

I've been tied up with work and learning a number of new procedures for ODSL, so that's the reason things are moving a little later than usual this year. But read on for updates.

Great News --

We have found a coach for the summer of 2024:  Her name is Kristen Chang:

She comes to us from Woodlea and is excited to start working with our swimmers:

We are hoping that online (I hope) registration can take place starting April 1. A little late this year, but we had to switch platforms and that's taking a little bit more time.  Speaking of which:

kfstingrays.swimtopia.com will be our new website:  SwimTopia is taking over from Team Unify.  I suggest going to the site:  enter your email and then press "forgot password"; that should prompt you to be able to change your password (which were all reset after the move) and sign into SwimTopia:  It's what I had to do myself.    From here is where you will signup for meets and volunteer jobs and get all the information you need.  It's currently not up to date yet as the schedule hasn't come out yet.

More Important News:

We are moving to morning practices:  We do not know the exact time as we are still in talks with the coaching staff:  More than likely it'll be from 8-11am or somewhere in that time frame:  Older kids will start first and then the younger kids to follow.  We decided to make this change due to the availability of the coaching staff and the need for more space.  Our team was much too big for 4 lanes in the evenings (along with the community) and this change will allow our team to grow.

Other News:  ODSL is now charging us $6.00 per swimmer for the 2024 season, due to the move to SwimTopia:  you will see that reflected in the fees for this summer.

 Important Volunteers Needed:

-We are still in need of a Full Time Computer Operator and an Assistant Computer Operator:  Didi has graciously offered to help when needed, but I would like a couple new people to take on this job of entering meets and attending all the meets.   This is a vital job and we cannot run the team without this job.

-Lead Concessions:  Someone to purchase the items, price them, and ultimately run concessions how you'd like it run during home meets.

-Head Ref:  This will need to come from our current pool of officials.

-More Stroke and Turn Judges and potentially more Refs and Starters. We always need more of this position.

-Volunteer Coordinator: This is currently my job, as well, but if someone wants it, please feel free and ask me.

-Website Developer -- This one is new:  but if you see the website in its current state, it'll need some cleaning up.

I think that's all for now:  Thanks for reading all this:  We cannot run the team without your help.  Reminder that every family will need to volunteer for at least 5 jobs this summer depending on how large the team is.

Thanks,

Greg
